How we rate

One rubric, applied the same way to every lender, card and account.

Loans and lines of credit

Each product is scored out of 5 on six weighted factors:

  • Cost of capital (30%). APR or annualized factor rate for a typical approval, plus origination, draw and maintenance fees.
  • Accessibility (20%). Minimum credit score, time in business and revenue; state availability.
  • Speed (15%). Time from application to funds.
  • Repayment flexibility (15%). Monthly options, term length, prepayment treatment.
  • Transparency (10%). Whether pricing and requirements are published before application.
  • Borrower outcomes (10%). Credit reporting, customer support, complaint patterns.

Credit cards

Rewards value on a representative small business spend mix, intro APR length and scope, annual fee, welcome bonus relative to required spend, credit profile needed, and reporting practices.

Bank accounts

Fees and waivers, transaction and cash limits, wire costs, software and integrations, FDIC coverage structure, and support for a future lending relationship.

Verification

Figures come from lender disclosures, published terms and direct confirmation. Each product page shows a last-verified date. If you find a figure that is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

What does not affect ratings

Partner status, referral fees, advertising, or whether a lender responds to us. Products with no relationship are reviewed identically.
